It's hard to believe Olivia is a teenager!
It's been a crazy year for all of us, I think. Here we are 10 months into the pandemic, so that's what will dominate Olivia's memories of her time as a 12-year-old. Because I (Robby) work in healthcare now, our family has needed to be extra careful about exposure to the virus.
Because of that, Olivia decided to take her seventh grade year at home with Sharon. She's been a big help with the younger children and is enjoying the extra reading time that she gets finishing up her schoolwork quickly.
Our big surprise in the family this year was the temporary addition of a new little one who's a birth sibling to many of our younger children. We're still waiting to see that the future will bring with her situation.
A few highlights from Olivia's life this year--
- Olivia's still playing oboe and piano
- She's a good baby snuggler
- She tries to check out the whole library at once (at one point there was a "great wall" of books on her bed--she's now got bookshelves installed above the bed)
- She remains our baker extraordinaire
- We had a couple of short family vacations--one to a lake house a few hours away and another to hike some interesting limestone formations in eastern Iowa
- She'd like to learn Spanish. She's been promised a trip to Puerto Rico if she reads the Book of Mormon in Spanish (and she's got a pretty good accent). We'll see how that goes over the coming year.
